CRAC has developed and manages the Higher Education Student Volunteering Awards on behalf of the Higher Education Academy.
The Awards celebrate the diversity of the student learning experience and recognise the outstanding contributions to community volunteering made by students in higher education across the UK.
The Higher Education Student Volunteering Awards replace the Higher Education Volunteering Awards, the programme which formerly recognised contributions by English institutions to community volunteering and was also developed and delivered by CRAC.
As part of the Academy's UK-wide remit to celebrate the diversity of the student learning experience, the new Awards will be open to all higher education institutions and further education institutions with 100 or more full-time equivalent students in England and Northern Ireland. For Scotland and Wales, the Awards will be open to (a) Scottish or Welsh HEIs and (b) Scottish or Welsh HEIs who are playing a leading role in a joint nomination in collaboration with Scottish or Welsh Colleges.
Entries can be submitted across two categories:
Fifteen awards are available in total.
Nominations will open in January 2010 and entries will be eligible for students who are or were registered between September 2008 and August 2010, or for projects which commenced or were running during the same period.
The Academy is keen to raise the profile of student volunteers and higher education volunteering programmes.
As such, winners will be invited to participate in the Higher Education Academy's Annual Conference, to be held 22-23 June 2010 at the University of Hertfordshire. This will include the presentation of a workshop, inclusion in the conference exhibition and the formal Awards ceremony, providing an unrivalled opportunity to promote the value of volunteering to over 500 senior staff and academics from institutions across the world.
Entry forms, promotional materials and guidance notes will be made available to all institutions directly and on the Academy's website in January 2010. In the meantime, please feel free to contact the Awards helpline on 01223 448 526 or hesva@crac.org.uk.
