Dr Richard Harvey is Director of Admissions at the University of East Anglia where his remit includes admissions to all courses including postgraduate courses and outreach and widening participation. He has worked in Higher Education since 1993 and has been involved in Admissions for all of that time. A new venture for the University is the opening of new study centre in central London known as UEA London. Initially aimed at pre-University and Masters courses, the new Centre will ultimately cater for a wide range of students interested in business and entrepreneurial subjects. He is Dean of the new London centre. He is also a practising academic in the School of Computing Sciences where he leads a team of researchers in Computer Vision. His current project involves examining the feasibility of computerised lip-reading - a topic that has captured the imagination of the press and media.
