Matthew joined UCAS in 2004 having spent several years in the Royal Navy as a Communications & Intelligence Analyst. Working initially within UCAS' Customer Service Unit he subsequently progressed into the Policy & Communications Department, where he is now a member of the External Relations & Development Unit.

As a Professional Development Officer, Matthew has extensive experience of providing training and consultancy on key issues that impact on progression to higher education, including professional development sessions for admissions and recruitment staff working in higher education institutions, those advising applicants through the admissions process including teachers and careers advisers, and also sessions to parents and young people on the applications process.
