Glass Industry Lead, Head of Careers

Biography

Neil joined Proskills in 2006 as Industry Lead for the Glass and Related Industries and in 2007 became Head of Sector Image. Prior to Proskills, Neil who has a BSc Honours Degree and a PGCE worked for 7 years as a secondary school teacher before joining Anglian Home Improvements. Neil's experience as a teacher has provided an insight into education which supports his work with the Diplomas and with employers developing resources for educational programmes.

As the Glass industry lead, Neil's primary goal is to ensure that the Glass Qualifications meet the needs of the industry and that the sector is informed of opportunities for skills development, including NVQ's, Apprenticeships and the Qualifications Credit Framework modular qualifications.

 As Head of Sector Image, Neil is heavily involved with:

• Creating a career strategy that supports development and meets Industry needs.
• Promoting the Sector's Skills, through a variety of channels including Skills competitions such as:

1. UK Skills Architectural Stain Glass, the Stevens Competition
2. The UK Master Fitter Competition for automotive glazing technicians.

Neil is a member of the GGF Executive Glazing Group and Chair of the Training Forum, and a non executive director of GTL.
