Lucy has over 15 years’ experience working in student recruitment, widening participation and undergraduate admissions. In 1999 she became the first PARTNERS Programme Co-ordinator at Newcastle University and developed and implemented the award-winning PARTNERS Programme – a supported entry route into Newcastle University for students from under-represented groups. After a series of roles relating to relationship building with schools and colleges and national and regional education networks, she was appointed to a new post of Head of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions in December 2007, heading up a unit of 35 people within a restructured Marketing and Communications Directorate. The post offers a broad and challenging remit
that includes playing a leading role in determining, developing and managing the implementation of University strategy in undergraduate recruitment and widening participation, and overseeing a range of national and regional partnership projects relating to widening access, HE progression and community engagement.
