Overview

Everyone these days must have work experience; everyone knows they must develop, reflect on and transfer their skills. Are these well-known words just tired and over-used or do they make a difference to gaining the best jobs? This session will provide the opportunity to consider what the terms work experience and skills development really mean, how best to get ahead of the game, who is taking them seriously (admissions tutors, employers, students, universities) and what universities are offering applicants in this fiercely competitive area.

This session will cover

  • the relevance of work experience and skills in university applications
  • what opportunities universities are offering
  • what employers think
  • case studies
  • resources to take away

Information, interaction, discussion and debate
