What is it about ?

We all know how tough it is to get into medicine, the allied healthcare professions and vet medicine. The increase in student places at healthcare and veterinary universities has also been accompanied by a steady rise in both applicants and entry grades.  However, healthcare and veterinary universities are aware of the need for diversity in recruitment and there are a number of initiatives around to widen participation.

This session will focus on the initiatives run by 2 pioneers in this field - St George's University of London and the Royal Veterinary College. St George's offer a comprehensive widening participation programme including adjusted entry criteria and the RVC, a unique Veterinary gateway programme .
