Sir Richard Sykes has today (28 October 2008) taken up the appointment as the new Chair of CRAC: The Career Development Organisation. CRAC is an independent, charitable organisation dedicated to lifelong career development and active career-related learning.
 
On his appointment the former Rector of Imperial College and Chairman of GlaxoSmithKline, Sir Richard Sykes said: ‘These are challenging times; never before have both those entering and in the workforce faced such bewildering and thrilling choices when it comes to taking decisions, which will affect their entire lives. I am delighted to join CRAC at a time when it is rising to these challenges by developing innovative, new resources such as icould and offering such an important programme as Vitae.’

Jeffrey Defries, Chief Executive of CRAC: The Career Development Organisation said: ‘We are delighted with Sir Richard’s appointment. He has unrivalled knowledge of both education and business and will thus bring us hugely valuable expertise and knowledge; exciting times indeed for CRAC.’
