Vitae realising the potential of researchers
Vitae realising the potential of researchers
|
Vitae, a new organisation to champion the professional and career development of researchers, was launched on 25 June 2008 by Ian Pearson MP alongside the new Concordat to support the career development of researchers.
Funded by Research Councils UK (RCUK) and managed by CRAC: The Career Development Organisation, Vitae builds on previous work by the UK GRAD Programme and UKHERD to build capacity in the HE sector to support researchers. Delivered in partnership with regional Hub host universities, Vitae will work with higher education institutions, researchers and employers to make real and positive change.
Vitae's vision is for the UK to be world-class in supporting the professional development of researchers and researcher careers. |

The programme has four key aims:
- championing the development and implementation of effective policy
- enhancing higher education provision through sharing practice and resource
- providing access to development opportunities and resources
- building an evidence base to support the researcher development agenda.
Vitae will continue to develop its activities during 2208
The new Vitae website was launched on 25 June with sections for postgraduate researchers, research staff and staff supporting researchers. The functionality and content will be extended during 2008. The GRAD site will remain in place until the end of the year.
The Vitae conference will take place on 8-9 September in London. It will combine what used to be the GRAD and HERD separate annual conferences. Download the Conference brochure and find more about the programme at the Researcher Conferences website.
The GRADschools programme delivered at national level is being reduced in response to increasing provision made by HEIs. Vitae will run a small programme of provision direct for researchers where it adds value to the work done on a national basis.
