The flexibility of the programme means that it can be run for 3 up to 6 months and be delivered to students in Years 10-12.
InsightPlus™ has been enthusiastically received by schools and colleges because it addresses education priorities in the following ways:
- it is equally relevant to both the academic and the vocational learner
- it maps against the main curricular areas of work-related learning, careers education and guidance, enterprise and PHSE
- it raises the aspirations of young people and makes the explicit link between learning and earning through the recognition of skills which are given no currency elsewhere in the curriculum
- it provides a continuum of learning from Key Stage 4 through to post-16
- it makes full use of existing 'wider activities' including 'contribution to the community' and 'experience of employment'
-
it makes school relevant for those young people who may be at risk of dropping out of the education system
-
it alleviates the shortage of formal work experience placements.
InsightPlus™ has also been delivered successfully as part of the Young Heritage Leaders Award on behalf of the National Trust. Student volunteers can participate on this national programme and both CRAC and the National Trust hope to establish programmes with local Trusts to provide more places.
