Aim: to promote and encourage an enterprising approach in the workplace.
Objectives
To enable the participants to:
- understand the implications of the global economy

be aware of the process of starting a new enterprise

appreciate the relevance of ‘enterprise skills’ in the workplace
- know the skills that are important for the world of work
- understand the importance of developing these transferable skills alongside their academic study
- give participants the opportunity to use these skills and identify those they need to develop
- realise the importance of managing your own learning.
To provide an opportunity for the participants to develop and practise some of the skills which are integral to a successful enterprise including:
- teamwork
- time management
- decision making
- creativity
- marketing
- financial awareness/management
- business awareness
- customer focus.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, the participants have a clearer understanding of:

the process of starting a new enterprise

the importance of understanding the market in which they operate
- the skills that are important for the world of work and understand how they link to enterprising behaviour
- the importance of developing wider skills, alongside their academic skills
- their strengths and weakness with regards to key skills for the world of work and how to develop them
- feel better prepared for the world of work.
Enterprise education is a statutory requirement and should be seen as a key outcome of work-related learning, not just an additional component of it.
'Financial Literacy' - an understanding of personal, business and economic matters is necessary to encourage young people to take responsibility for the impact of their financial decisions.
