Objectives
- to highlight the skills that are important for the world of work
- to give participants the opportunity to use these skills and identify the skills they need to develop
- to explain what will be expected of them when they attend their work experience
- to give the opportunity to listen to people from the world of work talking about ‘What makes a good employee?’
- to have the opportunity to talk to facilitators from the world of work and ask any questions that they may have
- to highlight the importance of their attitude and behaviour when on work experience
- to emphasis the value of their work experience as an insight to the world of work.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
- be aware of the skills that are important for the world of work
- understand which skills they personally need to improve and develop
- understand the effect of their attitude on the success of their work experience, and their work after school
- be more aware of how valuable their work experience is as an insight into an area of the world of work
- be aware of the common elements that are important to all areas of the world of work – presenting a positive image, being assertive and body language
- feel better prepared for their work experience
