Aim: for students to be better prepared for the challenges that they will face in the world of work.
Objectives
- to highlight the skills that are important for the world of work
- to understand the importance of developing these transferable skills alongside their academic study
- to give participants the opportunity to use these skills and identify the skills they need to develop
- to explain what will be expected of them when they first enter the world of work
- to give the opportunity to listen to adults from the world of work talking about ‘What makes a good employee?’
- to have the opportunity to talk to facilitators from the world of work and ask any questions that they may have.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will:

be aware of the skills that are important for the world of work

appreciate the importance of developing wider skills, alongside their academic skills
- have the opportunity to use these skills and identify their strengths and weakness
- feel more confident about what skills they enjoy using
- understand which skills they personally need to improve and develop and feel comfortable as to how to do this
- understand the importance of and implications of working as a part of a team
