Alison Mitchell

Director of Development

Alison leads Vitae business development, innovation and major contracts, building on our international position as innovators in professional development for researchers and developing our existing activities and programmes to deliver our mission and support organisational growth and sustainability.  Major Vitae projects include the Vitae Researcher Development Framework and associated training and development resources to enhance the professional development of researchers and researcher developers, including leadership, equality and diversity, innovation, enterprise, entrepreneurship and public engagement. Alison has delivered a range of lectures, training and workshops internationally. An experienced researcher, Alison has held a number of roles in universities. As Head of the Postgraduate Research Office, University of Strathclyde, she was responsible for University- wide researcher development, post graduate collaborative training with industry, postgraduate funding and scholarships, knowledge transfer and doctoral training, researching into intrapreneurship and researchers' roles in high technology SMEs. At the University of Glasgow, Alison's role included international postgraduate recruitment and training. Alison has a life long passion for science education, especially for girls, creating exciting opportunities for students throughout nursery, primary, secondary and university education. She is a member of the Institute of Knowledge Transfer, Chartered Management Institute, a Fellow of the Association of University Administrators and an Associate Fellow of the University of Warwick.
